Global Classrooms 2010: your society needs YOU! and a chance to influence energy policy

Global Classrooms 2010 is scheduled for the 8th and July 9th 2010 (Thursday from 1pm and Friday all day) and that for a second time, SOAS Model UN aims to provide conference directors. Global Classrooms a programme established by the United Nations Association of the United States of America dedicated to bringing the MUN experience at the school level to state school and is London’s foremost Model United Nations for Secondary Schoolers. They have hosted a series of excellent conferences serving inner-city students, on topics ranging from Climate Change, to Violence Against Women, to Nuclear Proliferation. The role of the Committee Director is that you will provide support to the student chair and provide guidance to the committee. It’s highly rewarding and if anyone is interested please do send an email. We promise you will greatly value this experience and this will further cement SOAS’s role as a partner university for Global Classrooms.

Second of all, the society has been approached by BPRI which is a leading UK based research company that is part of WPP Group and specialises in providing research across a variety of sectors in helping to influence key decisions. We have been asked if we can get about a half dozen students to help provide feedback on the issue of sustainable energy development. Essentially, this a unique opportunity in which you can have an impact to provide opinions that will help shape national and international energy policy. If interested, do email us
